What systems should telematics providers have to support TraX devices?
Telematics providers need specific hardware and software systems to support TraX devices.
Hardware Requirements:
- A gateway capable of capturing BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) advertising frames sent by the devices.
Software Requirements:
- Solutions to store and share information about the vehicles in the fleet.
- Capability to communicate with TraX integration solutions using TraX API and Queues.
- Ability to act based on information received from TraX integration solutions.
More detailed information about the required telematics platforms will be provided during the onboarding process.
What architecture should telematics providers provide to support the complete TraX system?
Please see the Integration Requirements article.
How to onboard a new fleet?
Fleets can be onboarded using the TraX web API (recommended). Learn how to connect in the Connect to the Web API article. Instructions with examples for onboarding a fleet is detailed in Vehicle Store Integration.
Additionally, SKF provides a support form to assist telematics providers in onboarding fleets.
What support can skf provide before, during, and after onboarding?
SKF offers informational support and best practices to facilitate the creation and testing of the necessary software and hardware solutions on the telematics provider side to fully support TraX devices.
Which integration environments are available?
The TraX system use two separate environments:
- One for development purposes.
- One exclusively for production usage.
What types of devices/firmware are used for the development phase?
SKF can provide devices tailored for development and testing purposes. These devices assist with calibration and testing activities and will be provided during the onboarding stage. These development devices must only be used during the development stage.
Information about development devices are provided in Guidance for Interpreting Device Data
How to test developed systems?
SKF has developed protocols with best practices for testing the telematics provider´s solution. See Protocol for Quality Assurance Testing and Protocol for User Acceptance Testing for more information.
Is it possible to move vehicles with devices between different fleets inside a telematics provider?
It is not possible to move vehicles between fleets. It is possible to decommission the devices, remove the vehicle from one fleet, and then recreate the vehicle and re-commission the devices on the vehicle in the target fleet.
However, to support telematics providers who equip devices on vehicles during the vehicle build process, SKF provides a support flow that may be applicable depending on the telematics provider´s platform capabilities. If you´re interested, please raise a support case using the general Request Support form.
Can telematics providers manage access to vehicles in fleets for fleet or third-party users?
Telematics provider users in the SKF platform can request permission to manage Fleet or 3rd party users access to fleets managed by the telematics provider. Use the Onboard Installer support form for these requests.
See the Manage Users and Access to Resources article for more information.
