To resolve premature wheel end alerts on devices running firmware BSS10 in new vehicle builds, a new firmware version, BSS11, has been released. In BSS11, the wheel end alert detection system has been reverted to a more stable operating mode. As a result, the Reset Device by Magnet feature and support for driven axles have been removed.
The Temperature Warning alert has also been removed, the temperature advertising feature with increasing frequency is still available. This decision helped streamline development and validation efforts, enabling faster delivery.
Key Improvements & Changes
- Reverted the wheel end alert detection system to a more stable mode of operation.
- The Reset Device by Magnet feature has been removed.
- The data frame no longer includes Temperature Warning Status and Vibration Monitoring Status.
Data Frame Compatibility
In BSS11, the Temperature Warning and Algorithm Status fields have been removed compared to BSS10. Structurally, the data frame of BSS11 is identical to BSS08, except for the version number.
The frame position previously occupied by the Temperature Warning in BSS10 will always be set to "0" in BSS11. As a result, telematics providers that display this field in their user interface will see a constant status of "No failure." While this is not ideal, the new firmware is not expected to trigger a temperature alarm in the UI.
The Algorithm Status field has been replaced with debug data, which may contain non-zero values. However, since our investigation indicates that no telematics providers have implemented visibility for this field, no impact is expected.
