Overview of Machine Conditions
We have installed SKF Axios in a ceramic plant in Saudi Arabia (Saudi Ceramics) as a pilot project and the end-user response is very positive. However, on the management level (Maintenance Manager comments), he wants to see the overview of machine conditions such as:
1. How many machines (assets) are healthy?
2. How many machines (assets) are in alert condition? in alarm condition?
3. How many machines (assets) are under maintenance condition?
As a maintenance manager, it is very important to have an overview of machines (assets) conditions to schedule maintenance activities in coordination with operation.
As for me, I also recommend if we can have an overview of the summary of faults detected by the system, i,e. imbalance, mis-alignment, looseness, bearing faults, lubrication issue. If majority issue is pointing to specific fault, i,e. mis-alignment, the maintenance can focus on improving the alignment of the machines or if it is related to lubrication issue, they can focus on improving the lubrication practices in the plant. Although, this information can be done manually, if we can automate it and readily available in the App or Web, it will be a game changer. We can easily be on top of the competition. My observation was based on my long years of experience as a maintenance engineer and planner (before joining SKF) in a cement plant where we are dealing with thousands of assets. Problem detection and fault analysis is important and so is reporting. Managers needs the summary or the overview to make maintenance decisions.
