Summary
A gateway might not have the firmware required to support a mobile network configuration, even if the hardware revision supports it.
This can result in problems during commissioning, where the commissioning of the gateway will fail with a generic error “Failed to commission” or “Unable to commission”.
If the firmware version is less than 4.0, the recommendation is to upgrade it before using a mobile network connection.
Solution
The firmware on the gateway must be upgraded before a configuration with a mobile connection can be commissioned.
Configure the gateway through Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection to an Observer instance with the latest firmware loaded.
After commissioning the gateway again in this instance, it will automatically update the firmware. After the firmware is upgraded, the gateway can be decommissioned and then recommissioned again with a configuration using a mobile network.
