Commissioning a sensor is the most fundamental use case in TraX. This article explains how to acquire sensors with the correct configuration, properly mount them, and use the TraX mobile app for commissioning.
Sections in this article:
- Ordering sensors in the right configuration
- Mounting and activating sensors
- Commission and decommission sensors using the TraX mobile app
The Quick Start Guide (PDF) is available to complement this article.
Ordering sensors in the right configuration
The sensor is available in three different backplates to fit different wheel sizes.
US baseplate WEM-200/USPP (US version) |
32 baseplate WEM-200/32PP (European version) |
EU baseplate WEM-200/EUPP (European version) |
Unless stated otherwise, all dimensions are given in millimeters. See Chapter 12 in TraX - WEM200 - Technical Specification Connected for the latest version of these drawings.
The image below illustrates how to map the wheel’s dimensions to the backplate.
Mounting and Activating Sensors
Instructions:
- Unscrew two consecutive rim nuts.
- Mount the sensor with the arrows pointing towards the tire side. No special wrenches are required for the installation. IMPORTANT: Do not use air impact wrenches during the installation!
- Activate the sensor using a magnet.
Refer to the Mounting Instructions video as well.
Commission Sensors Using the TraX Mobile App
Commissioning and decommissioning a sensor are among the most fundamental use cases in TraX. It is beneficial for TSP platform developers to gain first-hand experience with these processes, as they are responsible for reflecting these actions in the TSP’s platform.
How to commission a sensor using the TraX mobile app:
- Use the search functionality to locate a vehicle.
- Enrich the vehicle with axle information.
- Commission (video) or decommission (video) sensors to the vehicle's wheel ends.
For more information, refer to the TraX User Manual.
