Manually Creating a Copy of an Oracle Database

This document provides instructions on how to manually copy an Oracle database from one computer to another.  This is useful when migrating server PCs or backing up/restoring archived data.

In order to successfully copy a database using this procedure, the Oracle versions and installation settings must be exactly the same. 

In other words, if dbServer1's database is installed on drive C:/, then dbServer2's database must also be installed on drive C:/. If dbServer2's Oracle installation does not match dbServer1's exactly, then this procedure will not work.
