Summary
If the PIN for the PRM module is lost, you won't be able to update the configuration.
The PRM module can be protected by a PIN preventing the module to be disarmed for configuration updates. This article gives step by step instructions on how to recover the IMx-M so it can be updated with new configurations.
Solution
- Update the configuration or create a new with a known PIN in the IMx-M Manager.
- Physically disarm the PRM module by bridging the disarm points for the module at the back of the IMx-M using a short wire.
- Connect the computer to the IMx-M USB port and connect to the PRM Serial interface using the IMx-M.
- Issue the command ver
- Look for the Serial No (SNum) and the configuration CRC (u32Crc32Cfg). Both are eight hex characters long.
- Use the IMx-M Password Recovery Tool to create a Temporary Protection Module Emergency Access Password from the Serial Number and Configuration CRC.
TSG (Technical support group) can provide the Serial number and Configuration CRC. - Send a new PRM configuration to the device.
- When asked for a PIN, enter the Temporary Access Password.
