Curve fitting and trend extrapolation

Consider bringing back the curve fitting functionality. It is essential tool for diagnostics/prognostics, as per "ISO 13381-1, Condition Monitoring and diagnostics of machines – prognostics – Part 1 : General Guidelines". Above ISO is often referenced by class societies (ie DNV). Note that the curve fitting should not be linear only....

  Why not using Phoenix API for this? You are free and flexible to do your own curve fitting?

  If I understand correctly, the Phoenix API can support in extracting data, but you would need a 3rd party tool to process that data. I think it would be much better the have this feature built-in Observer
