Summary
When trying to get live readings in @ptitude Analyst, the following error may appear: "Live data failed because the hardware is not ready to allow data collection"
The most common cause for this issue is that the measurement Points you want to view live are not downloaded to the IMx or the IMx is offline.
Solution
Check the status of the IMx device.
- Right click in the IMx Service window and select Status...
- From the Device drop-down and select the device and click Get Status.
The channel boxes will be green, blue, or gray depending on the status of the channels.
- Green indicates that the channel has a configuration from the software and that the sensor is functioning properly.
- Blue indicates that the channel has a configuration from the software, but the sensor is not functioning properly.
- Gray indicates that the channel has no configuration.
If the IMx device is offline, the status will not show any of the above indicators.
If one or more channels for the IMx are being used but the Points have not been downloaded, this could be due to a partial download.
When downloading from the IMx, the device receives a file. Only the Points in this file are available for live data collection.
For example, if the IMx monitors multiple machines and a change is made to a Point on one of the machines, only that machine’s data is downloaded. As a result, all other Points in that IMx are eliminated.
