Summary
When @ptitude Analyst and SQL Server 2019 are freshly installed on a new machine, the users may not see any errors during operations like setting the database connection, test connection, running DBUpdates etc., using the SKF @ptitude Analyst Configuration Tool. Later however when the user tries to login, they may sometimes encounter an error depending on the settings used by the user during the SQL Server 2019 installation. This article describes how to resolve that issue.
Details
On a new machine once the user installs @ptitude Analyst and SQL Server 2019, they may encounter the following error message while logging into @ptitude Analyst:
“Unable to connect to database <DATABASE_NAME>”
In this case, please follow these steps:

- Open the SKF @ptitude Analyst Configuration Tool.
- Then go to ‘File->Settings’.
- Now select the ‘Specify a database tool for Configuration Tool’ option.
- Browse and select the SQLCMD.exe location from the browse button. For SQL Server 2019 it would be under:
- After setting this, close this popup window.
- Now select ‘Database Type’ on the left and set active connection.
- Then select ‘User Management’, run ‘Rebuild Users’.
- Finally select ‘Update Database’ and verify that the database version number is ‘9.2.0.0’ or higher.
- Open the SKF @ptitude Analyst Configuration Tool.

Now run @ptitude Analyst and enter the login credentials. The application should launch without error.
