Summary
The CMXA70 GX Microlog is not capable of using the newer 4.06 firmware version that was released for the CMXA75 GX and CMXA80 AX Micrologs as an alternative to use the SKF Sync Driver for serial communications.
Solution
The CMXA70 GX Microlog, unlike the CMXA75 GX and CMXA80 AX Micrologs, has a dedicated
RS-232 serial port as shown below.
Cables required for serial communications:
-
Serial communication cable with 9-pins and a female connector at both ends. See the image below.
Note: ensure that serial communication cable is straight-through. Do not use the null modem style cable where pins 2 (XMT) and 3 (RCV) are crossed.
- USB to Serial RS-232 Adapter. One such adapter is the IOGEAR GUC232A. See link below.

Below is a photo of the IOGEAR GUC232A USB to Serial RS-232 Adapter.
The IOGEAR GUC232A USB to Serial RS-232 Adapter is plug and play.
Once plugged into a USB port on the PC, the Windows OS will automatically assign a COM port to this device. Ensure that a COM Port of 1-4 is assigned, as the @ptitude Analyst application will only allow serial communications to these COM ports.
If a higher COM port is assigned to the device, go to device Properties and change the COM port to 1, 2, 3 or 4, depending on which is available.
