How to collect the USB logs from the IMx-8/16 and IMx-8/16Plus

Prerequisites

• USB Mini - B (Device service interface).

  Always use an isolated USB cable, e.g., CMON 4133 Mini USB cable (isolated), to avoid ground loops when connecting to mains-powered equipment.

  

• SKF Online Device Configuration Tool (OLDC)

  

• Laptop with available USB port

Procedure

Step 1
Install @ptitude Observer 13.7.1 

1. Download the Observer 13.7.1 installation package from the SKF official site. 

   

2. Locate the downloaded file and extract the ZIP archive.
3. Run setup.exe 

4. Click Install, accept the license agreement, and choose Custom installation. 
    

   

5. Select @ptitude Observer Online Device Configuration Tool and click Next.
    

   

6. Click Finish to complete installation.

7. The tool will appear in the Windows Start menu under SKF @ptitude Monitoring Suite.

Step 2
Connect IMx-8/16 device

1. Connect the Mini USB cable to the IMx-8/16 device.

   

2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the laptop where SKF Online Device Configurator is installed.

Step 3
Collect the USB logs

1. Launch the SKF Online Device Configuration Tool and select Start Serial Interface for IMx.

   

2. Identify the COM port assigned to the device from the COM port list. Select this port under Select COM Port, then click RESET to load the current settings.

   Allow the command to run for 3–5 minutes to collect sufficient log data.

   

3. Select the entire log output, copy it (Ctrl + C), and paste it into a Notepad file for saving or further analysis.
